Yacreader library update5/15/2023 ![]() ![]() I'm going to go and update everything right now, and get my apps. The photos look great, I can't wait to get some comics loaded and sit in for a great read!Įdit: Now that I've read the thread and seen that you're short on love here, my $0.02. It does some really cool things, fills a big need, and now is one of only a few apps to bridge desktop and mobile. It has a substantial learning curve and is quite frustrating to start out with. There needs to be a quick, 3-5 screen tutorial to help users get their bearings. Its also absurd to me, as above, that the library and app don't integrate. YAC is the only app of all the ones I tried that works that way is there no way to integrate them? That seems like it will limit your users to people who understand that part, and are willing to put up with it. There seem to be way too many options, without enough description of what it actually does. Again, this goes to sort of losing your bearings in the app, but it might be better to limit it to a few views without all the parameters than to offer users 10 view options with 15 customizable parameters each. I was really irritated to find that I hadn't imported the books, and had to do it all over again.ĭoes this seem to have a theme now? I swear it didn't start out this way, but it really does all come down to UI/Usability. I haven't found a ton functionally to change, and nothing I can think of off the top of my head at midnight, but the rest of these things are clear as day. The UI looks like it was one of the first design projects of a windows student that has been "refined" over time but never scrapped and rewritten. I think a good chunk of digital comic book users are on Macs - a statement I can back up with the implication from the fact that the majority of the digital comics are produced on Macs. This is troublesome because Mac users have specific expectations, specific standards for the way that an app should look and behave. It's abundantly clear that it was ported over from another system.Ī lot of people are willing to overlook that because its a great app, but a big number of people aren't - the same people who will judge a book by it's cover. The built-in search engine can display all the information alphabetically.Add that to the fact that the lack of an interactive guide/tutorial, too many vague options, and the frustrations brought by trial and error learning, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if your retention rate was abysmal. In this feature, individual comic titles, issue numbers, and even publishing information are stored and completely organized for easier browsing. Through the reader library, users can manage the information of their comic files. The reader also gives users the ability to enhance the comic images being presented. The YAC Reader Library also allows users to read files in foreign languages, set level zoom in customized numbers, read in full screen mode, and use bookmarks. A reader can choose between five transition effects: roulette, modern, classic, overlapped strip, and strip. It enables the user to peruse a digital comic with the effects of reading a real comic book. Another feature that is worth mentioning is Comic Flow. Exporting and importing is also allowed by the program, and full editing can be done with existing libraries. ![]() This is ideal for organizing comic strips so that users will be able to access them more easily any time in the future. It supports comics with the following file type associations: cbz, cbr, cb7, cbt, zip, rar, 7z, pdf, and tar.īy using the YAC Reader Library, a user can instantly create new libraries and separate them from existing ones. YAC Reader Library is one part of the entire YAC Reader application dedicated to reading entire comic libraries regardless of file type.
