Blackwake mortar5/15/2023 ![]() The Nockgun is a primary "volley weapon", a unique firearm with very few similarities to anything else in the FPS genre. Once you can no longer see individual players on the enemy ship, it's a good idea to stop trying to snipe with your Musket, and use Cannons instead. Keep in mind that Blackwake small arms are only reliable to a distance of 50 metres. However, it is almost always good for at least one kill in any combat situation, due to its high damage. Due to its longer reload time and mandatory aim-down-sights, Nockgun or Blunderbuss may be a better choice if you wish to board. Musket has the best accuracy of any primary weapon.Īs the game's most effective ranged weapon after the Cannon and Swivel, Musket is best used in distances of 50-10 metres attacking boarding enemies from the far side of your ship, or even "sniping" valuable targets on the enemy ship, such as their Captain. It has infinite ammunition, takes 15 seconds to reload after firing, and will kill enemies in one shot to the body at any range. Musket must aim down the sights (by pressing M2) before it can fire. It is a smoothbore, muzzle-loading long gun, apparently based on the British Army's Land Pattern Musket. All these factors combined means that Blunderbuss is one of the best weapons to use in the event of boarding the enemy ship.įormerly known as the Standard Rifle, The Standard Musket is a long-range primary weapon which functions similarly to Sniper Rifles in other shooters. Even if it fails to kill the enemy, it has a significant chance of causing heavy bleeding. At mid range, its large spread helps cancel out its inaccuracy, making it easier for you to hit enemy players than the Musket, Mortar or Nockgun in the heat of battle. While being totally ineffective at longer ranges, Blunderbuss is best used when in close quarters with enemy players it can kill enemies standing next to each other in a single shot. At long range, Blunderbuss appears to do no damage whatsoever, or is so inaccurate that its shots will rarely land. At mid range, it takes 2 body shots to kill. At close range, Blunderbuss kills in 1 body shot. It has infinite ammunition, and takes 10 seconds to reload after firing. It is a muzzle-loading gun with a wide, cone-shaped muzzle.īlunderbuss fires multiple weak shots at once, which spread out in a cone-like fashion over a wide area. The Blunderbuss is a primary weapon which functions similarly to Shotguns in other games. However, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing lots of YouTubers get on board with the game when its closed alpha comes out, which should be happening late March or early April. The primary, most powerful hand-held weapon that players use while they are fighting in a match, accessed by pressing 1.Īs of Patch 3.1, there are 4 different types of primary weapons: The Blunderbuss, the Musket, the Nock Gun, and the Hand Mortar. Then again, there’s also that other small pirate game called Sea of Thieves that’s currently in development by Rare, making me unsure as to how Blackwake will manage to compete with that. I think it’s one of those games that partially relies on a few comical glitches here and there, but also manages to convey the ferocious feedback of being hit by a cannonball coming in full speed from a rival ship, with characters flying off into the sunset while you desperately attempt to fix your vessel’s punctured hull. Personally, Blackwake gives me a huge Guns of Icarus vibe in terms of the way its heavy reliance of teamwork meets hilarious moments of sudden destruction and chaos. (We’ve seen that promise being broken by other devs many times, but let’s hope this won’t be the case with Blackwake.)īusiness-models aside, there are quite a few added weapons such as muskets and blunderbusses, which appear to now be fully animated. For example, here’s a video showing how throwing a tomahawk towards the general direction of your enemy’s skull looks like. The update in question shows off a bunch of new character models while also stating that no micro-transactions will ever be implemented when it comes to customization and such. Despite having launched an unsuccessful campaign in November 2014, the game’s current development seems to be going rather well in comparison, especially after it sailed off with 171,422 AUD last September. ![]() We’ve covered Blackwake plenty in the past, talking about the success of its resurrected Kickstarter and how it hits the nail on the head in terms of the way it handles its updates. Avast ye, landlubbers! A new Blackwake update has reached the shores, bringing fresh animations, joyous music and other precious booty! You can check it out for yourself here, with plenty of videos ready to quench your thirst for pillaging and sailing the seas.
